Installations in Remote Locations and Hostile Environments

At sour gas wells, propane or sweet gas is purchased to drive chemical injection pumps, low-pressure or high-pressure glycol circulation pumps, and instrumentation. Several EnviroDrive systems are currently operating at sour gas wells in Alberta eliminating the need for purchased propane or sweet gas.

Propane costs from 1994 to February 2000 increased 29.2% per gallon over six years. Costs increased from 62.5 cents/gallon in 1994 to 95.7 cents per gallon in 2000. The cost of transporting propane to remote locations can add significantly to the cost of the propane consumed. The cost of propane to operate pumping units is eliminated when an EnviroDrive system is installed.

Pipeline companies can also install an EnviroDrive system utilizing an electrical generator to provide electricity for cathodic protection or to measure the degree of corrosion in the pipeline.
